Smart systems for sensitive sites.
Rainbow Falls Provincial Park required a full refresh of its aging sewage systems serving the Trailer Dumping Station and Comfort Station. EnVision Consultants led the design and implementation of a consolidated sewage solution that balances peak flows, protects sensitive groundwater and surface water, and ensures long-term reliability and sustainability. The project included extensive site investigations, hydrogeological and geotechnical assessments, and custom-engineered components to meet the park’s unique topography and environmental constraints.

Integrated system design.
The new system consolidates sewage treatment for the Park at the Comfort Station, balancing flows from both primary facilities and reducing environmental impact through an optimized sewage mixing and management process.
Site-specific engineering.
Sewage tanks, pump chambers, and leaching beds were designed to accommodate the park’s elevation changes, existing ecological constraints, and proximity to Whitesand Lake, ensuring safe and effective wastewater management.

Environmental stewardship.
Hydrogeological studies identified non-calcareous sands and confirmed pristine surface water conditions in Whitesand Lake. These insights guided the placement of the future leaching bed, ensuring safe effluent dispersal and no unacceptable environmental impacts. The result is a system that protects the park’s natural integrity while meeting Ontario Parks’ long-term sustainability goals.
Expertise & Capabilities
Environment
Designated Substances & Hazardous Materials
Identifying and testing building materials that may require specific removal and disposal procedures during building demolition or renovation.
Geotechnical
Geotechnical Investigations
We assess subsurface conditions to guide engineering design, offering clear recommendations for how soil, bedrock, and groundwater will perform in excavations, foundations, slopes, tunnels, and earthworks.
Pavements & Embankments
We provide tailored pavement designs for new builds or rehabilitations, balancing long-term performance and cost through thoughtful evaluation of alternatives and lifecycle efficiency.
Instrumentation & Monitoring
Pre & Post Condition Surveys
Evaluating site conditions prior to and after construction to determine whether changes occurred during project execution.
Water
On-Site Wastewater Systems
Providing engineered servicing solutions in the field of decentralized sewage treatment and disposal systems for sites that do not have access to municipal infrastructure.
On-Site Water Supply
Groundwater supply investigations, from single lot developments to large multi-residential and commercial/industrial properties, including the relevant water taking permits and associated impact assessments.
Surface Water
Undertaking predictive assessments and water quality and quantity monitoring programs to support the understanding of land use effects on lakes and watercourses.
Water Resource Impact Studies & Monitoring
Completing predictive impact assessments to water resources, as well as long term monitoring of actual realized effects, to achieve an in depth understanding of natural systems.

Protecting the places we love.
As Director of Water, Michael Varty brought both professional expertise and personal passion to the Rainbow Falls project. An avid camper with deep appreciation for Ontario’s natural spaces, Michael approached the work with a unique sensitivity to the park’s ecological and recreational value. His leadership ensured that every design decision supported long-term environmental health while enhancing the visitor experience. Michael’s ability to unite technical precision with heartfelt stewardship inspired the team and strengthened the partnership with Ontario Parks.
Provincial Parks holds a special place for me and my family. It was incredibly rewarding to help protect a space we love while delivering a solution that will serve generations of campers to come.
